Thank you for your positive words of hope and encouragement Deb. They are a blessing!
If people would do more praising, worshipping, and reading God’s word aloud, I think we’d have far less cases of depression, anxiety and fear.

In reply to Ramsin. Hi there, Ramsin. Thanks so much for reading! I agree that the purpose of worship is to exalt Christ. This article, in particular, is less of a review of worship as a whole (which would take thousands more words to touch on its purposes, origins, etc.) and more of a focus on the weapon aspect of worship. Perhaps weapon is a poor choice of words but when I consider Temple's definitions to "feed the mind with the truth of God" and to "devote the will to the purpose of God," I consider those actions to be weapon-like - your defense against and remedy to the world's lies and distractions. But I completely agree, worship should not be focused on the worshiper or how it can benefit them, but on the one being worshipped - God. Thanks so much again for reading and weighing in!

Hello, I read this article and unfortunately I didn't find it biblical. I am worship leader and write songs in Aramaic and Persian ... All I read in this article that how worship makes me feel and what can do for me, which is contrary to the word of God. We gather to worship and exalt Christ without the impact that will have on me.
I use worship when I pray, I left my hand when I worship, but these are the subject of worship not the object of worship.
Below I have one of the best way that the meaning of worship has been expressed by
William Temple: “To worship is to quicken the conscience by the holiness of God, to feed the mind with the truth of God, to purge the imagination by the beauty of God, to open the heart to the love of God, and to devote the will to the purpose of God”
